Almost any Pennsylvanian can relate to the feeling that there is nothing fun to do in our area. I felt the exact same way until I discovered rock climbing in November of 2022. Ever since then, I have been obsessed with trying to find the best climbing gym.

That’s why I took it upon myself to create a master list of climbing gyms across Eastern Pennsylvania. The Milton Rock Gym and The Gravity Vault are just a few of their names. Be sure to read through to the end to discover the other 17.

Milton Rock Gym – Milton, Pennsylvania

At 45 South Front Street in Milton, Pennsylvania you will find the Milton Rock Gym. This business is held in a former department store built in 1880 and has since undergone much renovation to make it into the climbing gym it is today. Some features of their gym include a 2500 square foot bouldering area and 35-foot top rope. Additionally, they are the only public gym in the United States to have a Ben Moon Board. 

You can purchase a day pass from this climbing gym for $15 or a 10-punch pass for $130. They also offer memberships, their monthly membership is $70 per month and their annual membership is $45 per month (plus a $50 initiation fee). Discounts are available for students, seniors, family and youth.

Philadelphia Rock Gyms (Oaks)- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Oaks location of Philadelphia Rock Gyms can be found at East 520 122 Mill Road. Some amenities of their Oaks location include a 14,000 square foot facility, over 75 boulder problems, over 100 routes, and a training area.

Day passes at this climbing gym can be bought for $23, or you can save about 10% when you opt for their 10-punch pass for $207. Memberships can be bought for just under $70 per month along with a $45 initiation fee. Family members and students are eligible for discounts at this facility.

Some benefits of opting for a membership at this facility include unlimited access to all Philadelphia Rock Gyms, a 10% discount in their gear shop and guest passes.

Philadelphia Rock Gyms (East Falls) – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Philadelphia Rock Gyms in East Falls is located at B-3 3500 Scotts Lane in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A few features of this 14,000 square foot rock gym include over 160 boulder problems, over 90 climbing routes, a retail shop and general fitness equipment.

Pricing and perks for this climbing gym are the same as their sister gym in Oaks which can be found on this list.

Philadelphia Rock Gyms (Wyncote) – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Wyncote location of Philadelphia Rock Gyms can be found at 827 Glenside Avenue. This 10,000 square foot facility accommodates over 110 boulder problems, a mechanical systems wall, general fitness equipment, over 75 climbing routes, locker rooms and more.

Philadelphia Rock Gyms (Fishtown) – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

You can find the Fishtown location of Philadelphia Rock Gyms at 2412 East York Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This 6,000 square foot climbing gym is home to over 65 boulder problems, over 35 climbing routes and general fitness equipment.

Philadelphia Rock Gyms (Malvern) – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Malvern location of the Philadelphia Rock Gym can be found at 57 Lancaster Avenue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The 10,000 square foot climbing gym accommodates three forms of rock climbing: bouldering, top rope climbing, and lead climbing. Additionally, this facility offers general fitness equipment.

North Summit Climbing Gym – Wind Gap, Pennsylvania

The North Summit Climbing Gym is located at 481 Bushkill Plaza Lane #9665 in Wind Gap, Pennsylvania. Some of the services that this climbing gym offers includes; climbing lessons for beginners, lead climbing certification, top rope lessons, belay lessons, and outdoor lead climbing courses. You can get a day pass at North Summit Climbing Gym for just $18. Discounts are available to college students, military and first responders.

Reach Climbing and Fitness – Bridgeport, Pennsylvania

You can find Reach Climbing and Fitness at 401 East 4th Street Bridgeport, Pennsylvania. Some of their many amenities include a 4000 square foot ninja room, 6000 square feet of competition style boulders, spray walls, a kilter board, a tension board, and a 5000 square foot fitness area. 

Their pricing for this climbing gym is as follows; day pass ($24), 10 punch pass ($220), monthly membership ($90 + $69 initiation fee), or you can save $84 annually on memberships when you choose their $990 annual membership. Youth and families are eligible for discounts.

Downingtown Rock Gym – Downingtown, Pennsylvania

The Downingtown Rock Gym, located at 462 Acorn Lane in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, was formerly known as Vertical Extreme. Their facility has over 5000 square feet of bouldering, auto belay, top rope, and lead climbing space. 

Prices for this climbing gym start at $16 for a day pass, then $140 for a 10-punch pass, $45 for a month pass, or $565 for an annual pass. A membership gives you access to 1 guest pass per month, free belay instruction, 15% off of retail purchases, and discounts on classes, free clinics and events. Further discounts are available for families and if you opt to put your membership on autopay.

Rock Bottom Climbing – Hanover, Pennsylvania

You can find Rock Bottom Climbing at 28 Baltimore Street in Hanover, Pennsylvania. They have three levels of membership; day passes which can be purchased for $18, month passes for $60 which includes classes and events, and a classic membership which can be purchased for $45 per month and includes classes, events, and guest passes. Students are eligible for discounts. 

The Gravity Vault (Radnor)- Radnor, Pennsylvania

If you’re located in or around the Radnor, Pennsylvania area, then you might want to check out “The Gravity Vault” found at 175 King of Prussia Road. A few amenities of this 16,000 square foot climbing gym include over 100 roped climbing stations, bouldering space, a moon board, general fitness equipment and more.

Pricing starts with their day prices at $28. A 10-punch pass can be purchased for $333. If you’re looking to establish a climbing practice at this location, you can opt for a monthly membership for $110 per month or an annual membership at $85 per month. Depending on which membership you choose, you may be eligible for 10% off of retail purchases, free guest passes, free belay lessons and free yoga classes. Discounts are available for youth (20 and under), families, and seniors.

Warehouse Rocks Climbing and Fitness- Abbottstown, Pennsylvania

Warehouse Rocks and Climbing fitness is located at 301 Pleasant Street in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania. Climbnasium – Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

The uniquely named “Climbnasium” is located at 339 North Locust Point Road Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Some of the services that they offer include; bouldering space, belay lessons, climbing classes and a summer camp. Their pricing is as follows; $17 for a day pass, $91 for a 10 punch pass, and $30 per month plus $50 initiation fee for a recurring membership. Discounts are available for students. Members not only get access to unlimited climbing but half off on rentals as well. 

Climb Nittany – Boylesberg, Pennsylvania

You can find Climb Nittany at 328 Discovery Drive in Boylesberg, Pennsylvania. Some features of this rock gym include top rope climbing, campus boards, bouldering walls and more.

In order to make climbing accessible to as many people as possible, Climb Nittany offers a variety of commitment levels. Their pricing is as follows; day pass ($19), 10 punch pass ($175), monthly membership ($78 per month), annual membership ($869 per year).

Memberships get you access not only to unlimited climbing but also a 15% discount in their pro shop, discounts in classes and camps, free member climits, and 1 guest pass per month. Further discounts are available if you are a student, signing up a family, or are a member of the military.

Reading Rocks – Reading, Pennsylvania

Reading Rocks, located at 550 George Street in Reading, Pennsylvania, was established in 1996. Some amenities of this rock gym include 8,000 square feet of climbing space, 32 top rope stations, an indoor ropes course and more.

The prices are as follows; $14 for a day pass, $100 for a 10 punch pass, $70 for a month pass or $425 for an annual membership. Discounts are available for children under 6 and families.

The Cliffs – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Cliffs is located at 1010 Callowhill Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Some of their amenities include; over 335 top rope and boulder routes, fitness center, yoga classes, speed climbing wall, and gear shop.

Their pricing is listed as; $26 for a day pass, $234 for a 10 punch pass, and $105 for a single-gym membership.

As a member you’ll have access to family discounts, 10% discount on retail shop purchases, free yoga and group fitness classes, free clinics, a guest pass per month, 50% off of additional classes, and a free intro level class.

Doylestown Rock Gym & Adventure Center – Doylestown, Pennsylvania

Doylestown Rock Gym and Adventure Center is located at 3853 Old Easton Road in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Some features of their gym includes; 12,000 square feet of indoor rock climbing surface, belay lessons, and outdoor climbing clinics.

Alliance Fitness Center – Reading, Pennsylvania

Alliance Fitness Center can be found at 1 Meridian Boulevard in Reading, Pennsylvania. Some of their many amenities include a grasshopper wall, spray wall, MK2 Tension Climbing Hang boards, private climbing lessons with personal trainers, and a massage therapist. They offer three levels of membership, the most affordable being their “primary” monthly membership for $39 which includes unlimited gym use.
