Back in 2022, I visited Colorado with a group of close friends, and I was instantly entranced with the climbing community. I remember hiking through Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs and watching groups of people cheer on their friends from the base of the boulders. That’s why I’m confident, whether indoor or outdoor, you will be able to find a climbing community and rock gym in Colorado. 

Next year, Kayla and I will be moving to Colorado! That’s why I’ve taken it into my own hands to gather a list of climbing gyms to try out. A bucket list if you will. Whetstone Climbing, The Spot, Movement and Grand Valley Climbing are just a few of the rock gyms across the state of Colorado.

Whetstone Climbing – Fort Collins, Colorado

Whetstone Climbing is a rock gym located at 220 Smokey Street in Fort Collins, Colorado. Some amenities of their over 23,000 square foot facility include bouldering, top-roping, lead climbing, a general fitness room, yoga classes, and a cafe.

Day passes cost $24 while memberships run $85 with a $65 initiation fee for a monthly membership and $935 for an annual one. Some perks of opting for a membership include a 10% discount at their shop, 2 guest passes per month, 1 new guest pass per day, a referral program, discounts of climbing classes and much more. If you are a teacher, student, youth, military, veteran, first responder, or in a corporate group you may be eligible for a discount.

At the time of me writing this article, there are further discounts to celebrate the month of October.

Ubergrippen Climbing – Denver, Colorado

You can find the Denver location of Ubergrippen Climbing at 8610 East 21st Avenue. Some features of their climbing gym include around 12,000 square feet of roped climbing wall, a beginner friendly climbing area, 3000 square feet of bouldering area, 2 system boards, a campus board, a hang board, a peg board, a 1000 square foot yoga studio, and a 1,500 square food general fitness space.

The pricing for this rock gym is as follows; $27 for a day pass, $95 plus a $60 initiation fee for a monthly membership, and $1045 for an annual membership. Discounts are available to youth, college students, military, seniors, families and teachers. This pricing is consistent with their Castle Rock Location.

If you choose one of their memberships you can expect to gain access to a free belay class, discounted rentals, 1 first time guest pass per day, priority enrollment in events, discounts at some local shops, and 10% dividends on purchases to use towards future purchases.

Ubergrippen Climbing – Castle Rock, Colorado

The Castle Rock location of Ubergrippen Climbing can be found at 3690 Bilberry Street. Some amenities of their rock gym include plenty of climbing space, yoga classes and general fitness equipment.

The Castle Rock’s location has the same pricing and perks are the same as their sister gym in Denver.

The Spot – Boulder, Colorado

The Boulder location of The Spot can be found at 3240 Prairie Avenue. The Spot in Boulder was not only the first bouldering gym in Colorado, but the first bouldering gym in the United States. Some features of their 15,000 square foot facility include bouldering walls, system boards, campus boards, hang boards and the Eva Lopez Finger Training Strength System Training boards.

Day passes at this rock gym can be purchased for $25, a 5-punch pass for $115, monthly memberships for $89, and annual memberships for $989. Alternative rates are available for students, youth, family, first-responders, healthcare workers, teachers and corporate groups. They also have $15 Fridays. This pricing is consistant across all of their locations.

By opting for a membership, you gain access to unlimited climbing, gear discounts, guest passes and free or discounted classes and workshops.

The Spot – Denver, Colorado

The Denver location of The Spot can be found at 1235 Delaware Street. Some amenities of their 19,000 square foot rock gym include climbing classes, youth programs and beer. Please note that a membership gives you access to all “The Spot” locations.

The Spot – Louisville, Colorado

The Spot in Louisville, Colorado can be found at 1754 Dogwood Street. A few features of their rock gym are their speed wall, top rope stations, auto belay stations, yoga classes, general fitness equipment, hang boards, and moon board.

The Louisville’s pricing is the same as their Boulder location which can be found on this list.

The Spot – Golden, Colorado

This location of The Spot is located at 1391 Brickyard Road in Golden, Colorado. Their 11,000 square foot rock gym is equipped with bouldering walls, a kilter board, a tension board, hand boards and general fitness equipment. The Spot Golden also hosts bouldering competitions and climbing classes for multiple age and skill levels.

The Spot – Thornton, Colorado

The Thornton location of The Spot can be found at 9499 Washington Street Suite C. Their 9,500 square foot facility is able to accommodate an adjustable spray wall, a system wall, a campus board, hang boards and general fitness equipment. According to their website, this location will soon be offering climbing classes.

G1 Climbing and Fitness is located at 8845 West 116th Circle in Broomfield, Colorado. Their climbing gym offers over 25,000 square feet of climbing space which includes hang boards, campus boards, a tension board, a kilter board, a speed wall, top rope climbing, auto-belay stations, and bouldering walls.

Day passes at this rock gym can be purchased for $25. This facility offers two memberships for individuals, the monthly memberships which run $91 per month plus a one-time $59 initiation fee while an annual membership costs $999 with no initiation fee. If you are in the military, a student, or a senior ask about what discounts are available to you!

By opting for a membership, you open the doors to 10% off gear shop purchases, a free learn to boulder class, free yoga and general fitness classes, one monthly guest pass, and discounts on events and clinics.

Boulder Rock Club – Boulder, Colorado

The Boulder Rock Club can be found at 2829 Mapleton Avenue in Boulder, Colorado. This location was opened back in November of 1991 and has undergone numerous renovations to make it into the gym it is today. This 10,000 square foot rock gym now accommodates over 200 routes, auto-belay stations, a campus board and a moon board.

The Boulder Rock Club’s pricing is as follows; $27 for a day pass, $86 for a monthly membership, $245 for a 10-punch pass and $965 for an annual membership. Discounts are available for youth, students and military when proper identification is presented.

Denver Bouldering Club (Denver) – Denver, Colorado

The Denver Bouldering Club is located at 2485 West 2nd Avenue Unit 18 in Denver, Colorado. This boulder-only gym has moon boards, hang boards, campus boards, bouldering walls, yoga classes and much more!

A fun fact about this rock gym is that they use their own grading system. It starts at E for Easy, goes through M for Medium, and ends at H for Hard. + and – symbols are used to further denote the difficulty of the climb.

Day passes cost $20 while a 7-punch pass can be purchased for $129. Memberships may also be purchased. A monthly membership starts at $69 with a one time $29 initiation fee while an annual membership starts at $749. If you work midnights and can only work out late or just enjoy a good late night climb you can gain 24/7 access for a small upcharge. If you are a teacher, student, youth, family, first responder or a member of the military ask about what discounts are available to you!

Denver Bouldering Club (Thornton) – Thornton, Colorado

The Thornton location of the Denver Bouldering Club can be found at 698 West 84th Avenue. A few amenities of this rock gym include over 15,000 square feet of bouldering, over 100 boulder problems, a hang board station, and general fitness equipment.

Pricing for this location is the same as their Denver location which can be found on this list.

Denver Bouldering Club (Englewood) – Englewood, Colorado

The Denver Bouldering Club in Englewood is located at 4131 South Natches Court Unit E. Some features of this climbing gym include nearly 8,000 square feet of bouldering terrain, over 80 boulder problems, a moon board, a campus board, general fitness equipment and more.

Springs Climbing Center – Colorado Springs, Colorado

The Springs Climbing Center, which was founded in 1992, is located at 4642 Northpark Drive in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Their facility accommodates up to 210 boulder problems and 25 top rope climbing routes.

Day passes at this rock gym cost $18, a 10-punch pass is $150, a monthly membership costs $65 per month plus a $35 initiation fee and an annual membership costs $650. Discounts are available to climbers who are under the age of 5, in college, a member of the military, or a first responder.

CityROCK – Colorado Springs, Colorado

CityROCK can be found at 21 North Nevada Avenue in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Though I haven’t personally been to this rock gym, I have this location to be entirely entrancing with their vibrant kid’s area, adaptive climbing team and a restaurant in their facility.

CityROCK’s pricing is as follows; day pass ($20), 10-punch pass ($175), monthly membership ($72 plus a $39 initiation fee), and an annual membership ($720). If you are a student, teacher or a senior you may be eligible for reduced pricing.

By choosing one of their membership options over a day pass you can expect members only climb times, a monthly guest pass, a daily new guest pass, free yoga, free clinics and much more.

Movement – Boulder, Colorado

The Boulder location of Movement can be found at 2845 Valmont Road. Their 22,000 square foot rock gym is equipped with over 100 boulder problems, beginner to advanced climbing classes, system boards, campus boards, a yoga studio and general fitness equipment.

Their pricing is as follows: $27 for a day pass, $92 for a monthly membership, $168 for a 7-punch pass, and $1023 for an annual membership. Memberships give you access to unlimited climbing at all locations, free guest passes, free climbing clinics, yoga classes, fitness classes, discounts on workshops, discounts on climbing classes and discounts on gear.

Movement – Baker, Colorado

Located in Baker, Colorado at 1155 West 5th Avenue you will find another Movement location. Some features of their 32,000 square foot facility include over 120 bouldering problems, climbing classes, and private coaching.

Movement – Englewood, Colorado

The Englewood location of Movement is located at 1050 West Hampden Avenue Suite 100. Their 42,000 square foot rock gym accommodates over 270 bouldering routes, 170 climbing routes, youth programs and private coaching.

Movement – Centennial, Colorado

The Centennial, Colorado location of Movement will be found at 9657 East County Line Road. This 41,000 square foot rock gym will be opening in Spring of 2024 and will be the home of 28,000 square feet of climbing terrain with campus boards, tension boards, hang boards, a yoga studio, speed climbing walls, a gear shop and much more.

Movement (Rino) – Denver, Colorado

Located in Rino, Colorado you will find another Movement location at 3201 Walnut Street Suite 107. This location is rich in history, originally being a tin factory before being renovated in 2018 to accommodate this climbing gym. Their rock gym now accommodates close to 200 routes.

Movement – Golden, Colorado

The Golden location of Movement can be found at 700 Golden Ridge Road. Some features of their near 28,000 square foot facility include 126 boulder problems, 233 climbing routes, classes for beginners or advanced climbers and private coaching.

Climbing Collective (Longmont) – Longmont, Colorado

You will find the Longmont Climbing Collective at 155 Pinnacle Street. This 25,000 square foot rock gym has 19,000 square feet of roped climbing walls and 5,000 square feet of bouldering space.

Their pricing is as follows; $25 for a day pass, $162 for a 10-punch pass, $89 for a monthly membership and $985 for an annual membership. By opting for a membership, you gain access to all Climbing Collective locations, 20% off of some items in their gear shop and free clinics.

Climbing Collective (Loveland)- Loveland, Colorado

The Loveland Climbing Collective is located at 1507 Taurus Court. Their rock gym offers climbing classes, youth programs and climbing coaching. For their full list of prices, please refer to their Longmont location which can be found on this list.

Pure Bouldering Gym – Colorado Springs, Colorado

This small but mighty rock gym is located at 1401 South 8th Street in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A few features of this rock gym include bouldering walls and private lessons.

Prices at this rock gym start at $15 for a day pass and $110 for a 10-punch pass. If you opt for their monthly membership option, it will cost you as little as $45. Discounts are available for youth and military.

Some benefits of choosing a membership include one guest pass per month, discounts on classes and events, and 10% of Gearonimo purchases.

The pricing of this rock gym is as follows: $83 for an autopay monthly membership, $210 for a 10-punch pass and $915 for a prepaid annual membership. By choosing a membership you gain access to unlimited climbing, free yoga classes, free general fitness classes, 10% discount within their gear shop, half off of a climbing class, discounted competition costs, discounted clinics, a monthly guest pass and more!

Gripstone Climbing & Fitness – Colorado Springs, Colorado

You can find Gripstone Climbing & Fitness at 6220 Tutt Boulevard in Colorado Springs Colorado. Their 14,000 square foot rock gym is home to 17 auto-belay stations, over 100 roped routes and over 100 boulder problems.

Day passes cost $23, a 10-punch pass costs $205, as little as $89 for a monthly membership and $899 for an annual membership. By choosing a membership option you open the doors to unlimited climbing, members only hours, a 10% discount in their gear shop, guest passes and more.
